ABBOTT MINE SCHOOL

(Picture unavailable. Unless someone out there has one ???)

A school was built to care for the children at the Abbott Mine and the surrounding area. The Schoolhouse was up a small canyon, about 1 mile southeast of the cattle underpass which was west of the Abbott Mine on the State highway. Miss Nellie Bonham of Grizzly Canyon taught there until her marriage to Sarshall Smith of Sulphur Creek. Mrs. Warren Rannells was then hired to teach.

Very little else is known about this school.
